The terms of the settlement have not been disclosed, but both parties have walked away expressing mutual respect and openness to future collaboration. After getting financial backing from Elon Musk, Carano filed this lawsuit in 2024, alleging wrongful termination and sex discrimination.

The basis of the lawsuit is the firing of Carano by Lucasfilm and Disney from the TV series The Mandalorian, after she made some controversial social media posts, notably one comparing the treatment of conservatives during the COVID-19 pandemic to the Holocaust. Her posts garnered widespread criticism, and Disney deemed the posts “abhorrent and unacceptable,” and it resulted in her removal.

Carano, who is a former UFC fighter, however, continued her acting career by producing and starring in films under the conservative media company The Daily Wire. But then, backed by Elon Musk, she filed this lawsuit, and now that it has settled, she has publicly expressed gratitude for Elon Musk’s support during the lawsuit. This legal battle that started last year has garnered widespread media attention and has reignited the discussion over free speech and political expression within Hollywood, and even though the settlement has brought an end to the high-profile dispute, the tensions over political beliefs in the media industry still continue.
