2024 Fall Fashion Trends - What Is New?

Fall is here and as the leaves are parting ways with the branches, it’s our cue to part ways with our summer dresses as well.

Growing up, fall was my favorite season. I mean who doesn’t love sipping pumpkin spice latte, going on long walks without feeling too hot or cold, and being tucked in cozy blankets by the end of the day? Apart from the usual fun activities, fall also means bringing your fashion A-game.

This time around, it seems that fashion trends will be a little different. The usual cozy knitwear and fluffy sweaters and jeans will be replaced by something baggier. Moreover, expect a lot of formal wear and button-downs to dominate the fall.

Top 7 2024 Fall Fashion Trends

Here are some fall fashion trends that will either make a comeback or stay dominant this fall season:

Wide Leg Jeans

Wearing skinny jeans in 2024 is like committing a white color crime, the punishment is big, and everyone knows about it but most people will not mention it. While most people have already switched to boot cut and slightly baggy jeans, fall will be all about wide-leg bottoms.

You can expect a lot of wide-leg jeans, maybe occasional bell-bottom moments but skinny jeans will not be making a comeback. Most brands are already experimenting with different styles of wide-leg jeans i.e. Cargo Pants, Carpenter Pants, Flared Pants, Sailor Pants, Relaxed Fit, and even slacks, so make sure to pick the style that suits you best.

Cropped Jackets

Cropped shirts were a dominant fashion choice this summer and it seems that cropped shirts are here to stay regardless of the season. You will see a lot of cropped sweaters, cropped jackets, and cropped tops.

You can pair your cropped top with high-waisted wide-legged jeans, your favorite skirt, or a formal trouser for a different look. Apart from this, you can also expect to see a lot of influencers embracing floral mid-length dresses with cropped sweaters and jackets.

Many high-end brands are offering stylish cropped jackets in their fall collections. However, if you're looking for more affordable options, keep an eye on online retailers. By connecting to a reliable internet in your area, you can easily compare prices and find the best deals on the go.

Formal Trousers

Formal wide-leg trousers are poised to be a trendsetter this fall, offering a sophisticated and elegant look. A perfect mix of formal office wear with comfortable vibes, you can look put together in no time. Formal trousers are timeless and you can wear them anywhere.

I have seen a lot of people wearing formal trousers in offices but lately, I have been noticing people wearing formal trousers to meetups, airports, grocery runs, or just casual strolls. From biggest and most expensive brands to thrift shops and from runway to streetwear, these formal trousers are becoming a staple piece of every outfit.

Skirts

Skirts were a big thing back in 2017 when boho fashion was in full swing. However, they have been on a slow burner for the last few years. So, if you have a good skirt lying around, now is the time to dust it off and get ready for your next outfit.

I have been seeing a lot of straight skirts making a comeback, especially denim and satin mid-length skirts. However, if you have a tight-fitted pencil skirt, I would tell you to just put it back where it belongs – at the back of your closet. Apart from straight fit, flair and ruffle skirts will be making a comeback as well.

Recently Sydney Sweeney was seen wearing a skin, Ruffled Minidress from Chloe, and the internet can’t seem to get enough of that look. Fashion experts are expecting to see many people recreating that look this fall. So, if you have ruffled skirts, now is your chance to get it out of your cupboard.

Vests

Slightly unexpected but a much-needed comeback, vests will be a big hit this fall. You can wear a vest with a tank top and a formal trouser or you can pair it up with a button-down, the options are endless.

Most brands are also recommending vests with mid skirts while others are trying to pair it up with some pleated tennis skirts, so do not hesitate to experiment a little. Vests are a great option for people who want to build a capsule wardrobe but do not want to spend too much money.

A good way to style your vest is to wear a plain white shirt or just a white button-down. This will be an ideal look for a formal meeting or your office day. In case you want to wear the same vest to a friend’s meetup, you can wear the vest without a shirt and add some bling.

Animal Prints

You will be lying if you tell me you do not own at least one or two leopard print and zebra print articles. I was a huge animal print fan back in 2017; however, I am glad animal prints are finally making a comeback. Nearly every big brand has added at least a few animal print articles to their fall collection.

I suggest getting a leopard print silk dress or at least a button-down shirt, however, a good leopard print coat will also be a good investment. Vogue is also suggesting vintage leopard print to be a hit this season, so make sure you make the most out of this trend.

Florals

Florals never go out of fashion but after “it ends with us”, they will surely stay dominant this fall. I am seeing a lot of floral dresses, floral skirts, jackets, and even skirts, however, don’t be surprised if you spot someone wearing floral pants as well.

While most people invest in light-printed florals with pastels and pinks, I would suggest taking a different approach. Try slightly darker undertones with light floral prints, and a lot of frilly frocks and skirts.
